A few days ago, 343 Industries began rolling out a pretty massive update for both Halo 5 and Halo 5: Forge. Monitor’s Bounty, as it’s called, brings wealth of new features to the table along with updates to the Arena and Warzone playlists.

You’ll also find things like the Custom Games Browser, which is being added for Halo 5 in both Windows 10 and on the Xbox One. With the browser, you can search for in-progress game straight from the main menu and you can even suit up and join these games (depending on their privacy settings).

“We’ve also updated the Content Browser so that if you find a map or mode that you like, you’ll be able to browse for in-progress custom games from that file’s options,” adds 343 Industries UC Design Lead Vincent Hui. “This Custom Games Browser is something the team has wanted to add for a long time for the community, but we needed the Content Browser and the search engine that powers it up and running first.”

The Monitor’s Bounty also brings Observer Mode, which allows users in the Custom Games lobby to join in and watch an ongoing match in real-time from the moment it starts. You’ll have access to a wealth of camera controls and use Observer HUD overlay to keep tabs on up to eight players and two teams. You’ll also be able to monitor player status and weapons load out.

“We hope this opens up new possibilities for players to cast games, stream cool game modes, and run online tournaments without disrupting those playing the game or waiting for the film to be accessible,” Hui continues.

Forge sees the return of minigames, including previous favorites like Race and King along with the new Battle Golf.

Needless to say, there is a lot to digest in the Monitor’s Bounty update, and we can’t possibly delve into all of it here. However, check out these three videos below to get a nice overview on what to expect:
