Hands On With HP's Gargantuan Omen X Emperium 65 144Hz G-SYNC HDR Display
In the video below, you can see our very own Marco Chiappetta playing Battlefield V with the display -- I mean, just look at it! First of all, gaming on a display that large is simply incredible, and unlike traditional 4K televisions on the market, you aren't limited with a "lowly" 60Hz refresh rate.
Instead, the Omen X Emperium 65 features a more gamer-friendly refresh rate that maxes out at 144Hz (supported by the DisplayPort 1.4 connection on the back). In addition, HDR10 is supported with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. The display also embraces NVIDIA's G-SYNC adaptive refresh technology.
Once we look past those particulars, the Omen X Emperium 65 continues to impress with its own built-in NVIDIA SHIELD TV, four USB ports, and three HDMI 2.0 ports. In addition, there is also LED "mood lighting" that can dynamically throw colors on the wall behind it based on the video content that is currently being played back on the display.
While we were no doubt fascinated with what HP is offering to gamers with the Omen X Emperium 65, it is marketed at only the most well-heeled buyers. The display will launch next month with an MSRP of $4,999.
