190 HP Honda Mean Mower V2 Will Annihilate Your Lawn At An Insane 150 MPH
The Mean Mower V2, which is based on Honda's HF 2622 lawn tractor, is powered by a 999cc four-cylinder engine that was ripped from the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycle. While your typical riding lawnmower might have 14 to 16 horsepower on command, Honda scoffs at those lowly numbers. This engine is packing a heady 190 horsepower at a dizzying 13,000 rpm. Even better, the lawn mower has a dry weigh of just 152 pounds which makes for a crazy power-to-weight ratio.
The Mean Mower V2 seems more like a race car than a lawnmower courtesy of its tiny racing slicks, six-speed quick shift transmission (with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel) and color LCD display. Honda says that the Mean Mower V2 can hit 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and will zoom up to a top speed of 150mph. It will hit 90mph in first gear alone.
While those are impressive stats, 150mph in a lawnmower has "death trap" written all over it. Honda's original Mean Mower was clocked at 117mph, and that feat was beaten by a Norwegian team that managed to crack 134mph. Honda has thrown down the gauntlet with the Mean Mower V2 and is hoping to handily crush that record.
“The original Mean Mower was a great challenge for us and the result was an amazing machine," said Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director for Honda. "This time we have moved the game on considerably to build an incredible piece of real engineering, using advanced design and production techniques and calling upon some very clever thinking to bring the performance and power but still retain the look of the production mower."
If you must know, the Mean Mower V2 is still capable of cutting grass thanks to its functioning cutting deck and dual carbon fiber blades. However, we don't know how useful those racing slicks will be on your well-manicured lawn.
