Here's How To Watch Apple's WWDC 2019 Keynote Featuring iOS 13 And macOS 10.15
Have you had a chance to catch your breath from all of the announcements that came out of Computex last week? Hopefully you have, because more events are coming. Later this month, E3 will feature a Next Horizon Gaming event from AMD, and in the more immediate future—as in, later today—Apple will kick off its 2019 Wordwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
How To Watch Apple's WWDC19 Event
Apple is expected to announce new versions of its various operating systems, including macOS 10.15 for desktops and laptops, iOS 13 for mobile devices, watchOS 6 for smartwatches, and tvOS 13 for Apple TV devices. A little something for everyone, in other words. We also anticipate the usual round of hardware announcements.
This will all be livestreamed today, June 3, starting at 10:00 am PT (1:00 pm ET), from the San Jose Convention Center. You can catch the livestream by following this link, or hitting the link in the Via field below.
What Do I Need To Watch The Livestream?
Apple tends to favor its own Safari browser, and by extension, its own devices for this these types of events. As such, you catch the livestream on any Mac system (laptop, desktop, or all-in-one) running macOS Sierra 10.12 or later. If you prefer to watch on your iPad or iPhone device, just make sure it is running iOS 10 or later.
You can also catch the livestream from an Apple TV device. On older versions, check out the Apple Events option on the homescreen. If you own a 4th gen or later Apple TV, you will have to grab the Apple Events app (it's free), and then you will be good to go.
What about Windows users? If the past is any indication, Apple will limit its livestream to just Microsoft's own Edge browser. There is a chance that it will be watchable on Chrome or Firefox, but don't bank on it. That also means you will need Windows 10, since Edge is not available on Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7, or any of the earlier versions of Windows.
As to specific announcements, here are some predictions based on recent rumors and leaks...
- macOS 10.15 may kill the iTunes app and split its core functionality into three separate apps: Music, TV, and Podcasts.
- iOS 13 could abandon some older smartphones, such as the iPhone SE, and introduce a system wide dark mode.
- watchOS might introduce first party iOS apps to Apple Watch devices.
- tvOS could include tweaks that set the stage for the upcoming Apple Arcade service.
- Mac Pro could get a modular upgrade to make swapping components easiers.
