HP Debuts ZBook And EliteBook 800 G6 Mobile Workstations With Intel Whiskey Lake-U
Earlier today, Intel released new 8th generation Whiskey Lake-U Core i5 and Core i7 vPro processors that are geared towards the business market. Now, Hewlett-Packard is among the first OEMs to deliver new systems based on the new Whiskey Lake-U chips in the EliteBook 800 G6 and ZBook product families.
The EliteBook 800 G6 series is available in three screen sizes – 13-inch, 14-inch, and 15-inch – covering 830, 840 and 850 models respectively. The EliteBook 830 G6 can be equipped with up to a Core i7-8565U processor and 32GB of RAM along with up to a 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD. The 13.3-inch FHD display comes is backed by standard Intel graphics.
The EliteBook 840 G6 and EliteBook 850 largely feature the same processor/memory/storage options as their smaller sibling but supports 4K display resolutions in addition to an optional discrete AMD Radeon RX 550 GPU. For those that prefer a convertible form-factor, there’s the EliteBook 830 x360 G6 that comes with a 13.3-inch Full HD display and only integrated graphics.
All of the systems are available with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, optional Gigabit 4G LTE wireless and are MIL-STD-810G rated. HP is promising up to 18 hours of battery life with these new machines.
HP has also turned its attention to the ZBook line with the ZBook 14u (14-inch) and ZBook 15u (15-inch). These systems are available with up to a Core i7-8665U processor, up to 32GB of RAM and up to a 2TB SSD. Both systems can be configured with either a Full HD or 4K display, which can be backed with an optional Radeon WX 3200 discrete GPU. HP says that the notebooks are good for up to 14 hours of battery life.
The EliteBook 800 G6 family will be available in May (June for the EliteBook 830 x360 G6), while the ZBooks will be available starting on May 27th. Pricing has not yet been announced for any of the new notebooks.
