HTC Adjusts Smartphone Shipment Forecasts

HTC has had some struggles over the past few years. Although the company continues to put out some really great looking phones, its struggles persist. The company has been affected by the launch of the iPhone 5 as well as declining prices in China. As a result, HTC has reportedly revamped its product roadmap for 2013.

Citing industry sources, DigiTimes claims HTC expects its smartphone shipments to rise 10-15% in the first quarter of the year. Previously, the company projected a growth of 20-30%. In addition, HTC has reportedly suspended the development of a number of new models for next year. Although we don't know which models may be affected, we hope this doesn’t include the recently leaked HTC M7.

HTC won't comment on market speculation, but industry analysts expect HTC's struggles could continue. The company's shipments of its Windows Phone 8 smartphones haven't been as strong as expected. In addition, HTC continues to face strong competition from Apple's iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy line.
