HTC's Flagship ‘Hima’ Smartphone To Debut March 1 At MWC 2015

The 2015 Mobile World Congress is set to kick off in Barcelona, Spain on March 2. However, invitations that HTC sent out today confirm that we’ll actually catch our first glimpse of its next generation flagship smartphone a day early on March 1.

htc utopia

In true teaser fashion, HTC isn’t revealing any new details about the device and simply states that “utopia is in progress.” However, thanks to ongoing leaks, we have at least a general idea of what HTC plans to launch in early March. Although it’s possible that HTC could go with the obvious One (M9) moniker for its new flagship, ‘Hima’ has been thrown around since early December.

As for the processor, the obvious choice is Qualcomm’s new 64-bit Snapdragon 810, which features eight cores (four high performance cores and four low power cores) paired with 3GB of RAM. Reports also suggest that the rear camera will feature a 20.7MP sensor while a 13MP sensor will grace the front of the device. HTC will also reportedly not wade into the PPI race and hold the line with a 5-inch FHD (1920x1080) resolution display. Many flagship smartphones have made the jump to QHD (2560x1440) displays, so it will be interesting to see if HTC indeed forgoes a higher resolution display to keep battery life in check.

hima 1

Earlier this month, we got our first possible glimpse at Hima, and it’s definitely a gorgeous device. It clearly takes styling cues from already attractive One (M7) and One (M8), but manages to exclude even more elegance this time around.

March 1 can’t get here soon enough, although we’re almost certain that more leaks will continue to drip from HTC’s faucet as we creep closer to MWC 2015.
