HTC Discounts U Ultra, HTC 10 And One A9 Android Phones For Limited Time

LG just recently launched its swanky G6 flagship, and Samsung will set off a nuke in the Android smartphone marketplace with its Galaxy S8 and S8+ later this week (although T-Mobile jumped the gun for its customers that preordered the smartphones). But what about HTC? Once a name synonymous with high-end Android smartphones, the company has fallen off the radar screen for most buyers in recent years.

However, with excitement building around the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 family, HTC is doing the next best thing that it can to court potential customers: price cuts. In this case, HTC is cutting prices on some of its most popular models, including the U Ultra that was released earlier this year, in a week-long Easter sale.

The U Ultra has seen its priced cut by $150, dropping from a hefty $749 down to a more palatable $599. The company is trimming $200 off the price of the HTC 10 (dropping it to $499), while the HTC Bolt is now bundled with a free clear case and a $150 lower price tag (now $450). The One A9, however, sees the biggest price cut — $300 — which lowers its price down to just $199.

Of all the smartphones on sale this week, the U Ultra is the most potent with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and a 5.7-inch QHD display. There’s a smaller secondary 2-inch (160x1040) display at the top of the device that can be configured to flash notifications and reminders. The U Ultra, which features glass on both its back and front, incorporates 4GB RAM and can be configured with up to 128GB of storage (a microSD slot is included for those that need even more space for movies and apps). As for cameras, you’ll find a 12MP UltraPixel sensor on the rear and a 16MP selfie camera up front.

We always applaud companies that are willing to trim prices for the benefit of the customer; but it remains to be seen if these more attractive price points will be enough to persuade Android smartphone shoppers who have the latest shiny object dangling in front of their faces.
