HTC ‘Marlin’ Nexus Nougat Flagship Swims Into Geekbench, Rumored Specs Leaked
HTC is rumored to be taking over duties for both Nexus smartphones that will ship later this year to highlight Android 7.0 Nougat. The bigger of the two smartphones is codenamed Marlin, and Android Police has revealed the specs of the device (the well-connected purveyor of all things Android rates its confidence in the information at 9 out of 10).

According to its sources, Marlin will feature:
- Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC (but no word on if it’s Snapdragon 820, 821 or 823)
- 4GB RAM
- 32GB/128GB of storage
- 5.5" QHD AMOLED display
- 12MP main camera, 8MP selfie camera
- Bottom-firing speakers
- Fingerprint reader (rear-mounted)
- 3450 mAh battery
- Bluetooth 4.2
- USB-C port
Nothing really seems out of the ordinary with these specs for a 2016 flagship device, although the OnePlus 3 has 6GB of RAM (albeit neutered) and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is also expected to dance with 6GB onboard. Interestingly, there’s no 64GB “middle ground” when it comes to storage, which makes us wonder just how much the price premium will be for the 128GB model versus the entry-level 32GB offering.
Marlin is expected to closely mirror its smaller Sailfish sibling in specs. According to Android Police, Sailfish will only differ in screen size (5.2 inches), resolution (1080p) and of course battery capacity (2770 mAh).
With that all being said, it’s also being reported that Marlin has shown up on Geekbench for the first time, putting up single- and multi-core scores of 2084 and 4969 respectively. Not surprisingly, the smartphone is correctly listed as running Android N.
