HTC One Owners to Receive Android Update with Additional Lock Screen Options

Thank your lucky stars if your Android device is running the latest and greatest version of Google's open source operating system, because at the end of the day, you're at the mercy of your device maker and wireless carrier. That's why Google's own Nexus 4 is so popular -- it receives Android updates as soon as they're available. If you're an HTC One owner, you don't have much to complain about, and in fact we hear that the handset maker is starting to push out Android 4.2.2.

Included with the update is a drop-down menu with quick options. Android 4.2.2 also brings with it some additional lock screen options, allowing you to plop widgets, along with support for Daydream support. Daydream, if you're not familiar, allows your Android device to display information (photo albums, news from Google Currents, and more) when idle or docked.

According to Fudzilla, the update should also improve Miracast support, though this hasn't yet been confirmed. Regardless, there will be plenty of upgrades in the 417MB file, which should start showing up in Europe right about now. A U.S. release can't be far behind, or so we hope.
