HTC Rhyme Is Verizon's $199 Android-Based Phone For Ladies

A phone...for women? Dare we say it, and HTC definitely isn't, but there are a few too many markers on the new HTC Rhyme (formerly known as Bliss) for it to completely step away from that stereotype. Female-focused phones aren't entirely new, but we haven't seen a higher-end one hit the market in a long time. HTC's hoping to attack the market with a new smartphone on Verizon Wireless, complete with a 3.7" WVGA capacitive touchscreen, a single-core 1GHz CPU, 4GB of internal storage + an 8GB microSD card, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 5MP camera on the rear. There's also a VGA camera on the front for video calling, and version 3.5 of the Sense overlay is here as well.

The Android 2.3-based phone will sell for $199 on a two-year contract, which isn't cheap by any means, but that price does include a few accessories. There's a wireless dashboard speaer, an armband (for working out) and a Charm Indicator that will glow when a call is coming through. It's a 3G handset (no LTE), and will be shipping on September 29th. Overseas, the phone will ship as the Hourglass, but everything else about it will remain the same. So, feeling like an Valentine's Day gift?
