HTC U12 Flagship Phone Specs Leak: Snapdragon 845, 6-inch QHD+ Display, And 6GB RAM

HTC U11

HTC is expected to launch its flagship U12 handset sometime in May. Word on the web is that it will be another new Android phone to wield Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip (SoC). Beyond that, we have not heard a whole lot about this device, at least until now—it did not make an appearance at Mobile World Congress (MWC). Over on Twitter, however, a ROM developer has posted what he claims are the full pertinent specs of the U12 handset.

We always have to take these things with a grain or two of salt, naturally, though the leaker—LlabTooFeR, developer of the custom MaximusHD ROM for Android—has posted specs of unreleased HTC handsets before that turned out to be true. This is a fairly reliable source, in other words, more so than seeing specs appear on some obscure blog site.
According to the leak, the U12 will indeed be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor, along with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of build in storage. it will also have a 6-inch (5.99-inch, to be precise) QHD+ display, which translates to a 3200x1800 resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

In what is becoming a trend on high-end smartphones, the HTC is outfitting its U12 with a dual camera arrangement on the rear. One of those shooters will have a 16-megapixel sensor and the other will have a 12-megapixel lens, both built by Sony. For taking selfies, there will be an 8-megapixel camera on the front of the handset with support for HTC's Face Unlock feature.

The U12 will be able to withstand the elements with IP68 certification. That means it will offer complete protection against dust, as designed by the "6" in IP68, and will be able to withstand water immersion beyond 1-meter, as designed by the "8."

HTC will offer both single-SIM and dual-SIM models, the latter coming in handy for international travel. On the software side, the U12 will run Android 8.0 Oreo drizzled with HTC's Sense 10 skin.
