Last month, Valve announced that it would soon be releasing a standalone virtual reality headset based on Qualcomm's HDM Accelerator Program. That means that the headset, the Vive Focus, is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, which is most prominently found in most of 2017's flagship Android smartphones.

Today, we're learning a bit more about other specifications for the device, including the display that will be used within the headsets. Unlike some other VR headsets, the Vive Focus features a single 2800x1600 resolution AMOLED display with a 75Hz refresh rate. Field of view for the headset is listed at 110 degrees.

For those keeping score, the HTC Vive includes two OLED display panels with a combined resolution of 2160x1200 operating at a refresh rate of 90Hz.

According to Engadget, the Vive Focus includes an integrated battery that provides up to three hours of runtime (or a week of standby). The headset is recharged using a standard USB-C port, and supported the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 standard. Other features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; that latter of which is used for connecting to the wireless controller that supports three degrees of freedom (it also lasts up to 30 hours using two AAA batteries).

As for pricing, we're learning that the Valve Vive Focus will launch exclusively -- at least initially -- in the Chinese market for $600 on December 12th. That same $600 will get you an HTC Vive here in the United States. There's isn't any word of when or if the Vive Focus will arrive in the United States, although we're hopeful that it will arrive at some point, perhaps as a counter to Oculus' Project Santa Cruz.
