Huawei Fit Brings Water Resistant Design And 6 Day Battery Life To U.S. Market For $130

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck, right? Not necessarily. Chinese giant Huawei has a new wearable for the U.S. market, the Huawei Fit, and while it's certainly shaped like a smartwatch and can tell time like a smartwatch, Huawei is pitching its latest wearable as a fitness tracker with a rated six day battery life (or 30 days if left on standby).

"Huawei Fit is the next evolution of Huawei wearables, combining learnings from products including the Huawei Watch," said Zhengdong Zhu, president of Huawei Device USA. "We designed Huawei Fit to be the perfect fitness companion, with accurate tracking technology for fitness, heart and sleep. With a long-lasting battery, Huawei Fit is ready for anything and suitable for every body."

Call it what you like. Either way, the Huawei Fit's face comes in two finishes, those being Moonlight Silver and Titantium Gray (the color factory was all out of regular silver and gray). Both are molded from a single slab of aluminum formed into a circular shape measuring 39.5mm x 9.9mm. The included strap is made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and has a width of either 20mm (wide version) or 18mm (narrow version).

Part of the reason this isn't a full-fledged smartwatch is because it uses an e-ink display. The black and white touchscreen features a 208x208 resolution. It can pull notifications from your smartphone and tell you things such as the time, steps you've taken, and of course your heart rate.

The Huawei Fit automatically senses when you're walking, running, or sleeping and monitors your activity appropriately. It can tell you how many calories you've burned and how long you slept. The fitness tracker also supports multiple forms of exercise, everything from walking and running to cycling and treadmill workouts. Count swimming among the activities, too—it's rated 5 ATM and IPS68 for water resistance.

Huawei says its new wearable will be available starting today for $130 at Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg. The black strap version will only be available at Best Buy for the first 60 days, while orange and blue will be available at all three vendors.
