Huawei’s $400 Honor 8 Delivers Flagship Specs And Dual Cameras For A U.S. Audience
The Honor 8 has all the trappings of a flagship smartphone thanks to its premium metal and 2.5D glass construction, and 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display. Powering the device is a Kirin 950 octa-core processor that is backed by 4GB RAM. You’ll also find either 32GB or 64GB of storage onboard, although you can save a few bucks by getting the entry-level model and adding your own more cost-effective microSDHC card.
The smartphone also includes two cameras on the back, both of which feature 12MP sensors. One camera shoots RGB, while the second camera shoots in monochrome. When the digital “shutter” on the smartphone is pressed, data from both cameras is combined to produce one photo which features superior detail (compared to what can be found with a comparable smartphone with a single main camera). You’ll find a more traditional 8MP camera on the front of the Honor 8.
Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor (which can unlock your device in just 0.4 seconds), 3000 mAh battery with fast charging support, a USB-C port, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The smartphone is also running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Emotion UI 4.1 grafted on top.
The Honor 8 will come backed with the PROMISE warranty, which is in addition to the standard one-year warranty. If you were to somehow shatter the front or rear glass on your smartphone, Huawei will replace it free of charge within the first three months of ownership. After that, you’re on your own.
The Honor 8 is priced at $399 for the 32GB model, while springing for the 64GB variant will set you back $449.
