Huawei Mate 30 Flagship Phone Family Including Porsche Design Leaked In Full

Huawei is only days away from launching its flagship Mate 30 smartphone series. There have been several leaks leading up to the launch, and here in the homestretch, a bunch of leaked press renders give us a glimpse of each Mate 30 handset Huawei has in store, including the Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, Mate 30 Lite, and Mate 30 Porsche Edition.

The images come courtesy of famed inside man Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter), who often posts images and accurate specs prior to official product launches. This time around, he got his mitts on a bunch of renders for the Mate 30 series. The image above, for example, shows the Mate 30 Pro.

Assuming the renders are accurate (and Evan's track record is very good), they essentially confirm Huawei is running with a notched design—it appears to house three front cameras on the Mate 30 Pro.. We can also make out curved edges in the image above, with the display wrapping around to the side. On the back, we see a quad camera arrangement inside a large circular bump, with an LED flash on the side. Finally, the render suggests a water resistant design.

The regular Mate 30 sports a smaller notch with two main camera sensors housed inside. We can also see support for 5G connectivity, just as it appears on the Mate 30 Pro. This is not surprising, given that Huawei has been aggressively pursuing 5G connectivity, having gone so far as to say its lead in 5G technology is the real reason for the US government's "loser's attitude" with the company.

Unlike the Mate 30 Pro, the regular version appears to feature a flat display—we don't get an angled view, but it does not appear as though the screen wraps around the edges. This phone will also feature four rear cameras.

One of the more interesting entries in the Mate 30 series is the Mate 30 Lite. If the design looks familiar to you, it's because apparently it is the same as Huawei's Nova 5i Pro, according to Evan. He does not clarify if the sameness extends to the specs, but as for the physical construction, it is identical, right down to the punch hole camera on the front and smaller quad-camera arrangement on the back. There's also a fingerprint sensor on the rear.

Finally, there is the Mate 30 Pro Porsche Design, which is a luxury variant of the Mate 30 Pro. It appears to have a leather finish on the rear, available in black or red. That should make it less slippery, for users who do not put their smartphones inside a protective case.

Huawei is expected to outfit its Mate 30 series with its recently announced Kirin 990 SoC, built on a 7-nanometer manufacturing process. The new chip is available with and without built-in 5G connectivity. It features eight Cortex-A76 based cores and four Cortex-A55 cores, along with a 16-core Mali-G76 GPU.

These are high-end smartphones for sure, though there's a wrinkle—Google has banned Huawei from selling new phones (such as the Mate 30 series) with licensed apps and services. It's possible that Huawei and Google hammer out some kind of extension or agreement, but as it stands, the Mate 30 series is to launch without access to Google Play and certain apps such as Gmail, Google Maps, and so forth.
