Hynix Develops GDDR4 Graphics Memory

Earlier this week, Hynix Semiconductor enveiled their new GDDR4 Graphics memory modules.  Able to process data at almost two time that of GDDR3, Hynix will be pushing graphics card manufacturers to sign on, with a mass production target of Q306.  The current model can process 11.6 Gigabytes of data in one second with 14.4GB/s being the target later in 2006.

"GDDR is an ultra-high speed graphics DRAM that processes moving pictures and graphic data in personal computers and game consoles. The fourth-generation graphics memory GDDR4, which improves data processing speed by close to two times than that of GDDR3, is ideal for 64-bit computer operating systems that manage vast amounts of data at once.
