iD Going More Mobile Than Ever Before
iD, makers of some of the most famous video games and franchises in PC history is continuing their courtship of non-PC platforms, in this case mobile platforms. iD's new division, iD mobile, will focus on cell phones, the Nintendo DS and the PSP. We're a bit depressed by the fact that we might have to buy a few platforms just to keep up with iD's latest and greatest, but given their ability to squeeze every ounce of power from a given platform, we're going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it's probably going to be worth the price of admission.
“Id Mobile will be headed up by Fountainhead founder Katherine Anna Kang, who was formerly director of business development at id, and has already worked with spouse Carmack on projects including Doom RPG and Orcs & Elves, the latter of which (pictured) recently shipped on Nintendo DS.“
iD Mobile's first project is said to be a Wolfenstein-type game for the Nintendo DS. We hope that iD will continue to be a driving force in the PC market, and that this shift towards consoles and mobile devices isn't a sign that they might be shifting focus away from our favorite platform.
