There's an awful lot of fanboi jawing about which video game platform is the best. And of course, besides the big three console gamers, there's always the hardcore overclocker crowd getting every last shader going while saving the universe. But what might be obscured in the friendly joshing is that video game hardware and software sales are enjoying fantastic growth right across the board.
U.S. sales of video game hardware and software in June rose 31
percent from a year ago, driven by stronger demand for gaming consoles
from all three major industry players, market data showed on Monday.
June sales of $1.1 billion were also up about 35 percent from May,
showing strong momentum at the start of the traditionally slow summer
season, the report from market research firm NPD showed.
"The industry continues to realize substantial gains, month after
month, and on all fronts it's great growth," said NPD analyst Anita
