In Your Face Neil Armstrong, Matt Damon Is The Martian, Latest Trailer Exudes Awesome

I've been looking forward to two movies this summer. The first is Straight Outta Compton, which I caught last week (and it didn't disappoint), and the second is The Martian, a flick that will come out when kids and college students are back in school. After viewing the newest trailer put out by 20th Century Fox, it's going to be tough to wait.

You've probably seen the original trailer for The Martian in which Matt Damon finds himself stranded on Mars and needing to "science the s**t" out the situation in order to survive. To recap, a fierce storm results in Damon's character getting left behind an aborted mission and he only has enough supplies to last 31 days. He has to figure out both a way to contact NASA and survive long enough to be rescued, which could take several years.

There's not whole lot additional footage in the newly released trailer that wasn't in the original, though it's clear we're in for an intense ride. The second trailer also does a good job of highlighting the conflict between NASA's shot callers and the mutinous crew who decide, against permission, to attempt a rescue. Action and drama ensue.

The Martian is based on the best selling novel of the same name by Andy Weir, which is available now. As for the movie adaptation, The Martian lands in theaters on October 2, not on November 25 (Thanksgiving weekend) as previously scheduled.
