Inno3D Cranks Out NVIDIA Pascal-Based P106-090 Ethereum Mining Cards

It has been hard for months now for PC enthusiasts and gamers to find the video cards they want, because miniers have been buying them up to mine whatever their preferred cryptocurrency might be. Back in late September, we talked about prices for GeForce GTX 10 Series video cards possibly climbing due to a DRAM shortage and Ethereum miners. Now we have some new dedicated cards for miners coming to market from Inno3D that won't help the DRAM shortage, but might at least lure miners away from the cards gamers are searching for.

These are P106 mining cards, which are essentially stripped down NVIDIA GTX 1060 graphics cards with no connectivity for hooking up your monitor. The cards have a scant three month warranty and they may not be available everywhere due to that short warranty. The rub here is that while mining is huge right now, it may fall out of fashion in the coming months and you end up stuck with a card good for nothing else marking a big downside to these P106 mining cards.

The cards you see here are based on the P106-100 and the P106-090. The P106-090 has 768 shaders, down significantly from the 1152 shaders the GTX 1060. The upside is that since memory speed is important for mining, the P106-090 has a 192-bit bus. The card is also more power efficient needing just 75W to operate.

There are two card versions available from Inno3D, one of them has a single fan and is a mini-ITX model called Compact and the other is a larger card with dual fans called the Twin X2.

The P106-100 card has the Twin X2 dual fan cooler and the following specs:

  • GPU: GP106-100
  • Cores: 1280
  • TMUs: 80
  • ROPs: 48
  • Base Clock: 1506 MHz
  • Boost clock: 1708 MHz
  • Memory Clock: 8000 MHz
  • Memory: 6GB GDDR5 192b

The P106-090 3GB Twin X2 has the dual fan cooler and following specs:

  • GPU: GP106-090
  • Cores: 768
  • TMUs: 48
  • ROPs: 48
  • Base Clock: 1354 MHz
  • Boost Clock: 1531 MHz
  • Memory Clock: 8000 MHz
  • Memory: 3GB GDDR5 192b

The P106-100 6GB Compact has the single fan cooler and the following specs:

  • GPU: GP106-100
  • Cores: 1280
  • TMUs: 80
  • ROPs: 48
  • Base Clock: 1506 MHz
  • Boost Clock: 1708 MHz
  • Memory Clock: 8000 MHz
  • Memory: 6GB GDDR5 192b

The P106-090 3GB Compact has the single fan cooler and the following specs:

  • GPU: GP106-090
  • Cores: 768
  • TMUs: 48
  • ROPs: 48
  • Base Clock: 1354 MHz
  • Boost Clock: 1531 MHz
  • Memory Clock: 8000 MHz
  • Memory: 3GB GDDR5 192b
For reference, as noted, all of these cards are based on a GeForce GTX 1060 GPU essentially but optimized for mining and on the order of about 10 percent faster over all versus a retail 1060.
