Intel Aligns New Technologies To Enhance PC Network Management Capabilities

New Products from Intel, Microsoft Build on New Industry Management Specifications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 19, 2007 - Intel Corporation will make managing business PC networks less costly and simpler by aligning Intel vPro technology with the newly released versions of Microsoft* System Center* management solutions and incorporating new PC management standards.

The next generation of Intel vPro technology (codenamed "Weybridge") will add support for the new Web Services Management (WS-MAN) standard and include new Intel Active Management Technology features to reduce the spread of viruses and worms. In addition, it will adopt an upcoming Desktop Mobile Work Group (DMWG) specification for interoperability across PC hardware and software developed by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF).

To substantially enhance IT organizations' ability to protect their computers from viruses and help significantly lower maintenance costs, the Weybridge Intel vPro technology desktops and the next Intel(R) Centrino(R) Mobile Technology for notebook PCs (codenamed "Santa Rosa") will support a variety of Microsoft System Center solutions to include System Center Operations Manager 2007 (Ops Manager 2007), which monitors system health, and System Center Essentials 2007 (SCE 2007), a comprehensive management program aimed at small- and medium-size businesses.
