Intel Announces Global Competition Seeking App Developers for All-in-One And Tablet Platforms

Intel and Lenovo are co-sponsoring an app contest called the Intel App Innovation Content (AIC) 2013 in an attempt to foster development for Windows 8 tablet and all-in-one platforms. The contest is open to developers in 20 countries, although submissions will only be accepted via certain developer communities, which consist of: Code Project (U.S.), Habrahabr (Russia), ThinkDigit (India), and CSDN (PRC).

Lenovo Ideacentre Horizon

Intel is looking for tablet apps in the areas of education, finance, healthcare, and retail, and all-in-one apps in the areas of entertainment and education. 200 finalists will get a Lenovo AIO development system (an Ideacentre Horizon), and 300 finalists will receive a Lenovo tablet (Thinkpad Tablet 2) development system. Winners of each of the six categories will get $10,000 USD each.

Prizes of $10,000 will be awarded to the top finisher in the AIO and tablet areas, and a grand prize winner will take home $20,000.

The idea submission process ends on September 4th, and finalists will be announced on September 11th. After that, the finalists will submit apps by September 18th, and winners will be announced on December 18th.
