Intel Hiring Visual Computing Staff

If you had any doubts that Intel planned to take on NVIDIA and AMD/ATI in the discreet graphics space, think again. Intel is currently hiring staff for a Visual Computing Group, that's tasked with the mission to create "discrete graphics products based on a many-core architecture targeting high-end client platforms."

"Intel's Visual Computing Group (VCG) has the mission to establish the future of computing for high-throughput workloads. We are focused on developing discrete graphics products based on a many-core architecture targeting high-end client platforms. Our vision is that the resulting ingredients and technology will extend to mobile clients, servers, and embedded platforms over time. VCG will initially focus on discrete graphics products but will also expand the previous charter to include developing plans for accelerated CPU integration."

It's not going to happen overnight, but it look like Intel want to get back in the discreet graphics game. The company also wants to design something to combat AMD's Fusion project, as is evident by the last sentence in the quote above.
