Apple's iOS 12.1.2 Bricked Cellular Calling And Messaging For Some iPhone Users

Apple has had some significant issues of late. Recently it said that some bending of iPad Pro tablets right out of the box was normal and that if the tablet bent during use, it wouldn't affect the usability of the device. Continued rumors that the iPhone XR is selling poorly have been met with claims by Apple that the device is one of its best selling models. Apple now has a major issue with its latest iOS update. Some iPhone users who upgraded to iOS 12.1.2 have found that after the update they were unable to place calls or send text messages.

Apple launched iOS 12.1.2 last week, and shortly after the initial build was released a second build was tossed out to replace the original build. Only the build number changed; the version number stayed the same. iOS 12.1.2 was supposed to solve issues associated with eSIM support on the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max. The update was also supposed to address cellular connectivity issues that users in Turkey were seeing. The rub was after the update was applied, users around the world reported problems with cellular data connectivity.

Reports from iPhone users in Europe, Asia, and South America surfaced on Twitter claiming they were no longer able to use LTE data; users in the U.S. were also affected. Some users were unable to send texts and had issues with Wi-Fi connectivity in addition to being unable to make phone calls after updating to iOS 12.1.2. Reports indicate Apple has yet to officially acknowledge the issue, and those not running this version of the OS yet might want to hold off.
