iPhone 6 Plus And Android Phablets Non-Starters For Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Replica

Given the incredible hype surrounding Fallout 4, it's of little surprise that the game's biggest edition, called Pip-Boy Edition, sold out crazy fast. The reason for that, of course, is that it includes a wearable Pip-Boy, an on-arm device that requires your smartphone to take proper advantage of.

What's interesting about this special edition is that Bethesda didn't even release a list of which phones were supported before they were snatched all up. The company has now rectified that, so if you happen to be one of the lucky few that managed to snag the Pip-Boy edition, now you'll know whether or not you can actually use the included device or not.

For the most part, the biggest crowd locked out will be those who own an iPhone 6 Plus or Samsung Galaxy S6 - both the regular iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5 are just fine. The iPhone 4s and 5s, as well as the Galaxy S4, are also supported. If you have a different phone but it manages to fit inside these similar dimensions, you should be fine:

  • iPhone 6: 5.44" x 2.64"
  • iPhone 5s: 4.87" x 2.31"
  • iPhone 4s: 4.54" x 2.31"
  • Samsung Galaxy S5: 5.59" x 2.25"
  • Samsung Galaxy S4: 5.38" x 2.75"

The point of the Pip-Boy device is to load your smartphone in and use an interface that helps you interact with the game on your console or PC, but it's not required for that. Everyone else will simply have to hold their phones in their hands. It might not be as cool as wearing it on your wrist, but at least no one is locked out.
