Supposed iPhone 7 Images Hint At Upgraded Camera And Cleaner Antenna Layout
Much of the attention in the mobile space at the moment is on Samsung's shiny new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge handsets, but lest anyone forget about the iPhone, an alleged leaked photo of the iPhone 7's chassis is making the rounds. If the image turns out to be accurate, then there are some subtle changes in store for Apple's next flagship smartphone.
That's always the big question, is the leaked photo accurate? In this case, it's worth noting that the image was obtained by French-language website Nowhereelse.fr, home to famed leaker OnLeaks (Steve Hemmerstoffer), who authored the blog post showing the photo and also posted it to Twitter. It certainly seems that he's pretty confident in the image's legitimacy.
If he's right, the big change in the case design is the elimination of the the antenna bands that appear on the back of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. We're talking about those white lines that run horizontally near the top and bottom of your gold or rose gold iPhone (they appear gray on the silver and space gray models)—they're small grooves that exist to ensure sufficient signal strength. You don't see those lines on the new chassis, which results in a cleaner look.
Another thing you can spot in the photo is a bigger camera hole. This seems to suggest that Apple's upgrading the rear camera on the iPhone 7, just as it's done on every previous iPhone release.
