It Was The Best Of Times...

Google Inc.'s $3.1 billion purchase of DoubleClick Inc. has been cleared by the Federal Trade Commission despite heavy opposition from Microsoft and AT&T.

The next step of the deal is to be cleared by the powers that be in other regions of the world that Google operates in.

“The deal, announced in April, will combine Google's leading position in online text ads with DoubleClick's ad-serving tools that help publishers place and track display ads.”

This acquisition could very well put Google into a very dominant position in the online advertising arena for the foreseeable future.
