James Bond Returns in 2015 with “Spectre”, Will Drive a New Aston Martin DB10

The follow-up to the hugely successful Skyfall (the film raked in $1.1 billion worldwide) has received an official name: Spectre. Spectre will focus on the SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, the global terror organization that James Bond has battled in previous films including Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Daniel Craig is of course reprising his role as James Bond (007) and we shall see the return of other characters introduced in Skyfall including Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Miss Moneypenny), and Ben Wishaw (Q). However, the Skyfall veterans will be joined by stellar Bond newcomers including two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. Waltz, who gained popularity in the U.S. with his roles in Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, will play the villain Franz Oberhauser. 

Other confirmed cast members include Dave Bautista (who is still riding high from his portrayal as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy) as Mr. Hinx, veteran actress Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Andrew Scott (Sherlock) as Denbigh, and Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Colour) as Madeleine Swann.

Fans of Skyfall will also be glad to hear that director Sam Mendes and screenwriters John Logan, Neal Purvis, and Robert Wade are all onboard for Spectre. Filming locations will include Rome, Tangier and Erfoud, Mexico City, and Austria.

And we can’t leave out one more important member of the cast: 007’s latest vehicle of choice. In Spectre, 007 will be driving the Aston Martin DB10 that was designed by the British sports car maker with input from Mendes and the producers of the film. 007 has maintained a five-decade long relationship with Aston Martin (although Bond has had a few affairs with Lotus and BMW during that time), starting with the DB5.

“In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond,” said Dr. Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin.

In addition, Aston Martin will build 10 bespoke models of the DB10 that will be available for purchase. 

Spectre will debut on November 6, 2015.
