Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Fire HDX Cut To $119 and $179 Respectively For Cyber Monday

The past couple of years have been very good to tablets: They've become much more powerful, are being equipped with true HD resolutions, and best of all, have price tags that would have seemed impossible just a couple of years ago. But, when it comes to Black Friday or Cyber Monday, we sometimes have to reevaluate what an "awesome" price is.

Amazon has long been offering some stellar tablets through its Kindle brand, especially at the 7-inch form-factor, of which there's a lot of competition. To make sure that it is Kindle that winds up in consumer's hands this holiday season, the company is slashing $50 off the price of its Fire HD and Fire HDX models.

Amazon Kindle HDX

With $50 off, the Fire HD's price becomes $119, which is 30% off, while the Fire HDX becomes $179, or 20% off. Both models include 16GB of storage, and as suggested above, both are 7-inch models.

The Fire HD is Amazon's most affordable tablet, sporting a dual-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 SoC, a 1280x800 resolution (216 ppi), dual-band Wi-Fi, and up to 10 hours of "mixed use" battery-life. The Fire HDX is for those who demand a bit more performance and a much crisper picture. It includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, a 1920x1200 resolution (323 ppi), a front-facing HD camera, and 11 hours of "mixed use" battery-life, or 17 hours for reading.

It goes without saying that with this Cyber Monday pricing, both tablets are seriously attractive. But for those looking to pick up a capable tablet as cheaply as possible, the Fire HD's $119 pricing is amazing - Amazon is charging $20 less than it does for the 8GB model. That makes for one hard-to-pass-up deal.
