Lamborghini Huracán Performante Uncloaked, Sends 640 Italian Stallions To All Four Wheels

Although we got a glimpse at the Huracán Perfromante on video, it was disguised with camouflage which prevented us to seeing how it truly looks in the metal. Now that the Geneva Auto Show is kicking off, we’re finally getting our first real look at the car and it’s undeniably gorgeous (as you might expect). There’s no way that you would mistake the Huracán Perfromante for anything but a Lamborghini with its in-your-face angular lines and low-slung bodywork. The body panels make extensive use of carbon fiber and forged composites, while Plexiglas is used for the engine cover to reduce weight.

The Huracán Perfromante also employs active aerodynamics to either cheat the wind or improve downforce at high speeds. The active front spoiler integrates active flaps which can reduce air pressure to reduce drag and optimize acceleration and top speed. Even the massive rear wing uses active aero (left/right split), allowing either side to deliver more downforce and traction to the inner wheel during turns.

But everyone of course want to hear about the engine, and it’s most definitely a screamer. The 5.2-liter engine is naturally aspirated and generates 640 horsepower at a dizzying 8,000 RPM along with 442 ft-lbs of torque at a heady 6,500 rpm. Lamborghini does state, however, that 70 percent of the engine’s torque is available at just 1,000 RPM. The vehicle’s 7-speed dual-clutch transmission has of course been beefed up to handle the extra power and torque.

Dry weight for the Huracán Perfromante is listed at 3,046 pounds, while weight is distributed 43/57 percent front to rear. All of that power with a relatively low weight is good enough to send the vehicle hurtling to 100 KPH in just 2.9 seconds. It’s fast enough to hit 200 KPH in 8.9 seconds.

Lamborghini will begin initial deliveries of the Huracán Perfromante during the summer, and it will be priced from $274,390.
