New OnePlus 6T Renders Confirm Tiny 'Teardrop' Notch And Dual Rear Cameras

The OnePlus 6T is likely one of the most highly anticipated flagship smartphones for 2018, not only due to the features that it will bring to the table, but also because of the company's reputation for value pricing. While the smartphone isn't expected to make its global debut until October 17th, new renders have shown off the device from nearly every angle.

We've previously seen shots of the smartphone from the front, which show its drastically reduced display notch. The notch is better integrated this time around and deftly contours around the single front-facing selfie camera. There are minimal bezels along the side of the display, while there's a small "chin" at the bottom. Out back, the OnePlus 6T continues to feature dual cameras.

Unlike previous OnePlus devices, the OnePlus 6T doesn't have a traditional fingerprint sensor mounted on the back of the device. Instead, it uses an in-display fingerprint sensor. This was confirmed not only by leaked retail boxes for the smartphone, but also by company co-founder Carl Pei.

One omission that is likely to upset enthusiasts, however is the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack. After OnePlus mocked its competitors earlier this year at the launch of the OnePlus 6 for doing the exact same thing, the company is understandably catching flak for this move.

"Making a great phone doesn't mean putting every component available into the device," said Pei earlier this month. "We're not doing it for the sake of doing it and because everyone else is. We believe now is the right time, as it'll benefit the majority of our users while keeping the downside low."

According to MySmartPrice, which provided these CAD-based renders, the OnePlus 6T measures 157.7 x 75.7 x 8.2mm and features a 6.4-inch display. We can expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB/8GB of RAM and perhaps as much as 256GB of internal storage. OnePlus also says that getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack has allowed it to cram in a larger battery. For reference, the OnePlus 6 has a 3,300 mAh battery.

We expect to hear more in the coming weeks leading up to the October 17th unveil.
