Leaked Documents Show Samsung Galaxy S10 Preorders Could Come With Free Galaxy Buds
may be gearing up to include a set of wireless earphones with its upcoming Galaxy S10
smartphone lineup. If that is indeed the case, it would add a value proposition to Samsung's premium phone family, and perhaps nudge potential buyers who are on the fence about spending upwards of a grand on a smartphone.
We do not know how pricing will shake out for any of the Galaxy S10 models, though assuming Samsung sticks with its most recent script, you can expect MSRPs to be in the range of around $700 to over $900. According to one recent leak
, the top-of-the-line Galaxy S10 Plus
with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage will go for €1,599 (~$1,800 in US currency).
Whatever the prices end up being, these will not be cheap phones. However, bundled earphones could help take some of the sting out of the cost. Source code found on Samsung's Galaxy S10 teaser site in Russia suggests that anyone who pre-orders a Galaxy S10 will receive a set of "Galaxy Buds."
That would be a €150 (~$170) gift, according to a separate leak of the Galaxy Buds. The above press render made the rounds earlier this week, and what we find interesting is the placement of the Galaxy Buds on the back of the Galaxy S10. Why? It was previously rumored that the Galaxy S10 family would support wirelessly charging
other devices. This feature is called PowerShare.
Battery life is obviously an important consideration when purchasing a smartphone. However, there is utility is being able to wirelessly charge another device, using your phone. Presumably, if the Galaxy Buds run low on juice, users would be able to plop them on the Galaxy S10, as shown in the press image. It's not clear how long it would take to charge the earphones or how much battery life it would suck from the handset, but there's certainly a convenience to having that capability.
Thankfully, all of the rumors and speculation will soon come to an end. Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy 10 lineup during its Unpacked event
on February 20.
