Leaked Press Renders Of Samsung’s Red Hot Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus Leak Early
Samsung has a special “Unpacked” event scheduled for a little under two weeks from now. The company will reportedly launch two new flagship phablets, and both are equally sexy. Thankfully for us (and not so much for Samsung), leaked press renders of both the new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ have made their way to the Internet courtesy of serial device leaker Evan Blass.
Not surprisingly, the Galaxy Note 5 looks like a supersized Galaxy S6 complete with a metal body, however, like its Galaxy Note 4 predecessor includes a stowable stylus. The Galaxy Note 5 is said to feature a 5.66-inch QHD (2560x1440) display and an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor with 4GB of memory along with 32GB storage. Other specs include a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

In what will definitely be a big blow to Galaxy Note fans, it appears that this generation (like the similarly-constructed Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge) will lack a microSD slot (are you kidding me!?). Having a well-constructed, sexy body is a definite plus, but we think many users will be disappointed with the lack of storage expansion options (especially given the proliferation of reasonably priced 128GB microSD cards).
As for the Galaxy S6 Edge+, there’s not much to add other than it will have the same innards as the regular Galaxy S6 Edge, but adds a larger 5.66-inch display versus the current 5.1-inches.
There is of course no word on pricing or availability at this point; we’ll have to wait until August 13 for those details. But given Samsung’s recent smartphone follies, we have the feeling that the South Korean electronics giant won’t shoot for the stratosphere with regards to pricing on the new devices.
