Sony announced Left Alive prior to the 2017 Tokyo Game Show, but has provided precious little information since the game’s announcement. The official trailer is cinematic and features a futuristic war zone and some impressive-looking robots. The game is set in the fictional city of "Nova Slava" in December 2127. Since there is Cyrillic script in the some of the artwork, it is believed that the city is located in Russia. It appears that the game will follow three characters whose, “lives are laid bare...each with their own stories...and their own paths to salvation.”

We know that the game takes place in the same universe as the Front Mission series as well. The Front Mission series was also set during the 21st and 22nd centuries and featured military conflicts. It was known for its engaging storytelling and inspired numerous manga, novels, films, and radio dramas.

Left Alive
has received a large amount of attention thanks to its creators. Sqaure Enix is a Japanese video game developer and publisher best known for Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts. Left Alive is directed by Toshifumi Nabeshima, produced by Shinji Hashimoto, and its characters have been designed by Yoji Shinkawa. Nabeshima is known for producing the Armored Core series and being one of the writers for Dark Souls II. Hashimoto was the co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series and greatly involved in promoting the Final Fantasy series. Shinkawa is famous for his character and environmental designs in the Metal Gear Solid series. Many are optimistic that this fantastic cast will create a phenomenal game together.
