Lenovo Gets Carbon Fiber Happy With Yoga 900S, Touts Razer Partnership With Gaming Desktop And Monitor

Lenovo is the biggest PC OEM in the world, and we were reminded of that fact yesterday when the company released a whole gaggle of Think-branded notebooks, convertibles, tablets, and all-in-one devices. But the Chinese company isn’t finished; tonight it’s time for Round 2, which means we’re seeing a heavy dose of consumer-centric product announcements.

First up is the new Yoga 900S, which is the world’s thinnest ultraportable convertible, measuring in at just 12.8mm thick and weighing in at 2.2 pounds. Lenovo is able to achieve this thinness (while maintaining chassis durability and stiffness targets) and lightness due to heavy use of carbon fiber. You’ll also find Lenovo’s exclusive watchband hinge for the touch display (which measures 12.5-inches and features a resolution of 2560x1440).

As for the hardware inside the machine, you’ll find a peppy Intel Core m7 processor backed by up to 8GB of LPDDR3 memory and up to a 512GB SSD. Intel HD graphics are all that you’re gonna get in a device this thin and light, and you’ll also find a standard USB 3.0 port, a single USB 3.0 Type C port and an internal battery that will last up to 10.5 hours per charge.

Switching gears, we come to two gaming offerings in both laptop and desktop form-factors. The ideapad Y900 is a big ‘ol honkin’ 17.3-inch laptop with a middling 1920x1080 display. That display is fed by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M GPU with either 4GB or 8GB of GDDR5 memory, while up to a quad-core Skylake-based Core i7 processor handles processing duties. The ideapad Y900 supports up to a whopping 64GB of DDR4 memory thanks to four SO-DIMM slots. Configured storage options include a 512GB PCIe SSD and a 1TB HDD, and you’ll find plenty of ports scatters along the perimeter of the ideapad Y900’s chassis includes three USB 3.0 ports and a USB 3.1 Type C port.

Given that this is a gaming machine, you’ll also find twin 2w JBL speakers with a 3w subwoofer (with Dolby Home Theater), a programmable color-backlit keyboard and a color-highlighted touchpad. And thanks to its gaming roots, you shouldn’t be too surprised to learn that this machines weighs over 10 pounds and has a 6-cell 90Whr battery that only lasts five hours per charge.

We’ve previously mentioned Lenovo’s partnership with Razer, but now we’re getting an official name for the first product jointly produced by the two companies: the ideacentre Y900 Razer Edition (RE). The desktop can be equipped with up to a sixth generation Core i7 processor, 32GB of DDR4 memory, up to dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 GPUs, and a 2TB HDD + 256GB SSD.

For its part, Razer suppplies its Chroma multicolor lighting effects, Chroma keyboard and Chroma mouse. You’ll also find the Lenovo Nerve Center which features overclocking controls and settings for the Razer Chroma lighting.

And if you want a swanky monitor to hook up to the ideacentre Y900 RE, there’s the Y27g RE Monitor which features a 27-inch curved display (1800R) with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 and Razer Chroma RGB lighting. It not only features NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, a 144Hz refresh rate and 8ms response times, but a built-in four-port USB 3.0 hub, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors. If you can do without the Razer lighting effects, there will also be a standard Y27g model available.

The ideapad Y900, ideacentre Y900 RE, Y27g RE Monitor, and Y27g Monitor will all be available in June with price tags of $1,999, $2,299, $599 and $549 respectively.

Moving on, we have the ideapad 710S and ideapad 700. The ideapad 710S is a thin and light notebook that weighs 2.6 pounds and comes with a 13.3-inch FHD display. It is powered by Skylake processors and up to 8GB of LP-DDR3 memory. You’ll find integrated Intel graphics, up to a 256GB SSD and up to 8 hours of battery life. The ideapad 700 is available in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch form-factors, both with FHD displays. The standout features for the ideapad 700 series is that the 15.6-inch model can be equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 950M, while the 17.3-inch model can be had with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 940M GPU.

The ideapad 710S will be available in July for $799, while the ideapad 700 will be available in June for $799 (starting price for both screen sizes).

Last but not least, we have the ideacentre 610S, which is a quirky looking compact entertainment PC. The machine is powered by Skylake processor, can be spec’d with up to 16GB of memory and a 2TB HDD (a 128GB SSD is available if you prefer that route). The most interesting thing about the ideacentre 610S is that it comes with a detachable wireless projector that an project onto any wall up to 110 inches at 720p resolution.
