Lenovo Intros IdeaPad U300s Ultrabook, U300 And U400 Ultraportable Notebooks
New ultraportables? Lenovo's got 'em! Three of them, in fact. The company has just revealed a trio of new "luxury laptops," the IdeaPad U300s Ultrabook, the standard U300 and the U400. These are a few of Lenovo's fanciest designs yet, and we suspect the Ultrabook will be the one getting the most attention.
That one is particularly slim, and it's quite powerful thanks to the Core i7 (2nd-gen) CPU within. Furthermore, there's an SSD (up to 256GB), 13.3" HD display, 4GB of DDR3 memory, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 + 3.0 ports, a 1.3MP webcam and a chassis that measures just 0.6" thick. It's built from a single-piece aluminum shell, and the whole machine weighs in at under 3lbs.
It'll ship in Graphite Grey or a limited-run Clementine Orange, and there's even a "one-of-a-kind" breathable keyboard paired with Intel's Advanced Cooling Technology that enables air to flow through the keys and out of the sides/rear hinge.
Lenovo claims that this guy can last up to 8 hours on a full charge, or up to 30 days on standby.
As for the U300 and U400? They also feature 2nd-gen Core processors and SSDs, with the former having a 13.3" display and the latter having a 14" HD display. Both utilize AMD's Radeon HD 5470M graphics (1GB), and both can be ordered with up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 1TB of HDD storage and up to 256GB of SSD. Furthermore, the U400 has a built-in slot-loading DVD-RW drive.
Battery life? The U300 can last up to six hours, while the U400 can last an hour longer.
All of the units have an HDMI output, SRS Premium Surround Sound and Intel Wireless Display. All three laptops are available in a cool Graphite Gray color, and the U300s also comes in limited-edition Clementine Orange. Starting prices for these laptop models start at $1195 for the U300s and $799 and $849 for the U300 and U400, respectively. They will be sold through select retailers and on www.lenovo.com beginning October 2011.
