Lenovo Launches ThinkPad L412 And L512 For Green Businesspeople

These three words tend to find themselves together a lot: Lenovo, business, notebook. Today, they're finding themselves together again with the introduction of the L Series, a new business-oriented ThinkPad that will ship in two main versions: the L412 and L512. As you might expect, the former has a 14" anti-glare display, while the other has a 15" panel.

Designed to withstand daily abuses and crank through even the longest spreadsheets, these two machines can be equipped with Core i3 or Core i5 processors and rely on integrated Intel graphics or an ATI Mobility Radeon GPU. There's also an optional 3G/4G wireless card courtesy of Gobi, which will allow travelling businesspeople to get online through Sprint, AT&T and/or Verizon Wireless.

Other specifications include a multi-touch trackpad, up to eight hours of battery life, Windows 7, four USB ports, a powered combo eSATA/USB port, DisplayPort/VGA support, and most importantly, one of the greenest footprints of any notebook on the market. Lenovo says that these machines have secured EPEAT Gold status, and they're 40% more energy efficient than previous ThinkPad laptops. Additionally, the laptops are shipped in nearly 100% recycled packaging that can simply be thrown into a customer's recycling bin. Not a bad way to lead up to Earth Day!

These will be available starting in the middle of next month for a base price of $649.

Designed for business, government and education customers, the ThinkPad L412 and L512 laptops feature high performance with the latest Intel processing technologies, military tough durability and strong web conferencing features in an affordable laptop starting under $700. Additionally, the laptops are the greenest on the market by integrating the highest amounts of post consumer recycled content.
