Lenovo Readies ThinkPad X1 for May 17th Launch (Cheesy Video Enclosed)

Take a sigh of relief Hollywood studios, it doesn't appear as though Lenovo is going to come swooping in and steal anyone's thunder on the big screen, or even the computer screen via YouTube. But that's okay, we're not interested in Lenovo's movie-making chops, it just so happens that the OEM chose to reveal its new ThinkPad X1 in a cheesy YouTube video, and it's the hardware that we're most interested in.

The video above gives you a rough idea of what to expect from the semi-rugged ThinkPad X1. It has a backlight, it can withstand spilled drinks, there's a Gorilla Glass display, and you don't need to freak out if Fido or little Billy comes charging through the room and knocks it off the table.

We'll have to wait for official confirmation from Lenovo on the specs, but according to reports, the ThinkPad X1 will measure 0.85 inches and come equipped with an Intel Core i5 2520M processor, up to 8GB of RAM, 210GB HDD or 160GB SSD, USB 3.0, and eSATA, all with a battery life of around 8 hours.

Look for the ThinkPad X1 to ship on May 17 for an as-yet unannounced price.
