Lenovo ThinkStation P320 Tiny Packs NVIDIA Quadro Graphics Into World's Smallest ISV-Certified Workstation

Lenovo is on a mission to change the way you think about workstations. Just as we have seen in other PC categories, the trend is towards increasingly smaller machines. When it comes to workstations with Independent Software Vendor (ISV) certification, nothing out there takes up less space than Lenovo's newly minted ThinkStation P320 Tiny, which it built around a one liter form factor.

The new ThinkStation P320 Tiny ties into Lenovo's PC as a Service (PCaaS) offering, which consists of a fully managed, fixed monthly cost subscription model combining hardware and services into a single solution. There is a wide range of products available as part of this initiative—businesses can select tablets, laptops, desktops, workstations, or software and services, Lenovo says.


As the ThinkStation P320 Tiny, it is the world's smallest ISV-certified workstation, though do not mistake that mean it is an underpowered system. Just the opposite, configurations can pair up to an Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake processor with NVIDIA Quadro P600 graphics. Customers can also stuff up to 32GB of DDR4-2400 RAM into the ThinkStation P320 Tiny, along with up to dual 1TB M.2 NVMe solid state drives.

That is an impressive collection of hardware to cram inside a system that weights less than 3 pounds and measures just 1.4 inches by 7.1 inches by 7.2 inches.

As to external connectivity, the ThinkStation P320 Tiny offers users two USB 3.0 ports and separate microphone and headphone jacks on the front. Around back are four mini DisplayPorts, two DisplayPorts, a gigabit Ethernet port, four USB 3.0 ports, a Wi-Fi antenna, and a security lock.


Despite its small size, the ThinkStation P320 Tiny can support up to half a dozen displays. It can also attach to the back of a monitor with a VESA mount for a makeshift all-in-one PC—just pair it with a wireless keyboard and mouse and you have yourself a powerful workstation that takes up hardly any space.
