Lenovo’s Tab3 Plus Budget Tablet Images And Specs Leak Early

Lenovo will likely have a major presence at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month as it introduces several new mobile devices. One of them will be the Tab3 8 Plus (TB-8703), an 8-inch tablet that is not yet official but might as well be thanks to the latest leak. An Italian-language website got its virtual mitts on a handful of press renders and what looks to be a plausible spec sheet.

Based on the leaked photos, the Tab3 8 Plus will ship in at least two color options, silver and blue. Buyers will be able to choose between a Wi-Fi only model (TB-8703F) or one that has both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity (TB-8730X). Otherwise the two SKUs feature the same specs staring with an 8-inch In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel with a WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution.

Assuming the leaked spec sheet is accurate, popping the hood (not recommended) would reveal a Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 625 System-on-Chip clocked at 2GHz (same as found in the ASUS ZenFone 3), along with 3GB of system memory and 16GB of built-in storage. Users will be able to add more storage by sliding in a microSD memory card, support for which goes up to 128GB on the Tab3 8 Plus tablet.

Photo buffs will find an 8-megapixel camera on the rear with LED flash for snapping photos and recording videos, and a 5-megapixel camera on the front for those all-important selfies. Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, GPS, and a 4,250 mAh battery that can be recharged via micro-USB 2.0.

Interestingly the spec sheet indicates that Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Tab3 8 Plus rather than Android 7.0 Nougat. Our guess is that an update can't be all that far behind, though it would be nice to have Nougat installed right out of the box.

Finally, Lenovo's upcoming tablet will come with a chassis that measures 209.5 x 123.5 x 8.6 mm, weighs 320 grams, and is IP52 certified to resist dust and water.

The estimated price for the Tab3 8 Plus is 150 euros (around $161 in U.S. currency).
