LG G7 ThinQ Snapdragon 845 Flagship Bares All In New Leak Ahead Of May 2nd Debut

LG is holding an event on May 2nd that will see the debut of its next flagship: the LG G7 ThinQ. We've seen the smartphone leak at various points over the past month, but we're now getting our best look yet at the new smartphone.

As always, Evan Blass is the one that scored this newest leak, and it shows the G7 ThinQ from every angle. On the back, we see dual cameras and a fingerprint reader just below them. On the right side, there's a power button, while on the left side there are volume buttons that are joined by a dedicated Google Assistant button. The top of the phone is reserved for the nano SIM slot, while a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone hack adorn the bottom of the smartphone.

Moving to the front of the G7 ThinQ is what will make some Android users recoil in horror. There is a rather pronounced notch at the top of the [rumored] 6.1-inch display. It doesn't appear to be nearly as wide as what you'll find on the Apple iPhone X, but it's still a rather jarring interruption in the display area. What's probably more disconcerting to Android fans is that there is still a relatively thick bezel at the bottom of the smartphone, so why couldn't the display have been shifted down a few millimeters to negate the need for a notch?

But we digress, we're sure that that LG will explain the importance of the notch when the smartphone is officially revealed next week. After all, OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said of the OnePlus 6, "We wanted to offer the biggest display possible without compromising on hardware, which is why we opted for the notch design."

When it comes to internal hardware, the LG G7 ThinQ will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. That puts the smartphone on relatively equal footing with the Samsung Galaxy S9, but behind the Galaxy S9+ which includes 6GB of RAM.
