LG announced its new G8 ThinQ flagship smartphone back at MWC 2019, but it was largely overshadowed by its perennial South Korean rival, Samsung, which unveiled the Galaxy S10 family. With that being said, the G8 ThinQ is an incredibly powerful device that is equally deserving of your attention if you’re in the market for a flagship Android device.

LG announced today that the G8 ThinQ will arrive in the United States starting on April 11th, and it will be available from all four major wireless carriers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint. While the MSRP for the G8 ThinQ is $819.99, Verizon and Sprint will be selling the device for $840. AT&T comes in a tad bit lower at $829.99. T-Mobile, however, is undercutting all of its rivals with a straight up $200 discount off the MSRP, bringing the phone down to $619.99when you purchase the device using an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP). Each of the carriers also have a number of additional bonus offers including trade-in credits an bonuses for activating a new line.

For those not in the know, the G8 ThinQ comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC along with 6GB of RAM. There’s 128GB of storage onboard along with a microSD slot that will accommodate another 2TB of external storage. Front and center is a 6.1-inch QHD+ FullVision Display (3120x1440) with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

There’s a notch in the top-center of the display which houses an 8MP selfie camera and a Z Camera Time of Flight (ToF) sensor which can add depth information for photos, aid in biometric Face Unlock, and can be used with augmented and virtual reality applications. Out back, there are two cameras: a 16MP wide-angle camera (f/1.9) and a 12MP standard-angle camera (f/1.5).

As you might expect from an LG flagship, there’s a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC onboard along with DTX:X 3D Surround Sound and a Boombox speaker. While most of its competitors have shifted to in-display optical (or ultrasonic) fingerprint sensors, the G8 ThinQ makes do with a tried and true rear-mounted optical fingerprint sensor.

Given its size and features, the LG G8 ThinQ’s closest competitor is the Samsung Galaxy S10. That device is priced at $899 before any incentives, so the G8 ThinQ’s $819.99 MSRP undercuts the pricing by a fair margin.
