LG Rolly Is Full-Size, Folding Bluetooth Keyboard Companion For Mobiles
IFA Berlin 2015 won’t officially get underway until September 2, but product announcements are already breaking. LG is one of the companies getting ahead of the pack, announcing today its LG Rolly keyboard, which rolls up into a slender stick. It’s one of the smallest collapsible keyboards we’ve seen.
The keyboard has a small stand that houses the single AAA battery and the hardware for the keyboard’s Bluetooth 3.0 support. It can connect to two devices, which is a nice touch, and you can toggle between them with one of the keyboard’s keys. The stand anchors the keyboard and can hold your phone or tablet (up to 10 inches), thanks to two arms that fold out when needed.
LG hasn’t indicated how long the device is, though it looks to be about 10 inches long. That would make it easy to tuck into bags or even a roomy coat pocket.
Of course, none of this matters if the keyboard doesn’t make for a comfortable typing experience. We can’t speak to that without having tried it, but we like what we’re hearing from LG. The company says the keys have a 17mm pitch to approximate a typical typing experience, and the keyboard uses ABS plastic, meaning it’s not a rubbery mess. There are only four rows, so you have to press an FN-like key to activate the number keys, but otherwise you’re working with a full keyboard, complete with reasonable spacing between the keys.
“LG Rolly Keyboard is just one of the many premium input devices we’ll be unveiling in the coming months as we expand our accessories offerings,” said Seo Young-jae, vice president Innovative Personal Devices at LG Electronics.
