LG To Unveil New Windows Phones Soon

After signing a deal with Microsoft in February, LG is in the process of making Windows Mobile its primary smartphone platform. It appears the company is making good progress; LG recently announced plans to launch three new smartphones in the next few weeks that run on Windows software.

The new phones will be the first phones from LG to feature the new Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system from Microsoft. LG believes this latest version of Windows Mobile will make it easier for users to navigate the Web. In all, LG plans to launch a total of 13 new Windows phones globally by the end of next year.

Microsoft is hoping that its Windows Mobile operating system will continue to compete with and challenge Symbian, which is currently used in two-thirds of all smartphones around the world.

LG won’t be exclusively tied to Windows Mobile, however. The company is also a member of the Symbian Foundation and is developing models based on Google’s Android software.
