LG V20 Android Nougat Flagship Makes San Francisco Debut September 6th
LG spilled the beans earlier this week that there would indeed be a follow-up to 2015’s quirky V10 smartphone. The LG V20 will actually be the first smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat, which would give it bragging rights over Google’s incoming 2016 Nexus flagships.
At the time, LG said that the V20 would debut in September, but now the company is getting a lot more specific. The LG V20 will be unveiled on September 6th at an even held in San Francisco. LG invites uses to “Play More” as “The second story begins” with the V20.
The current V10 has some pretty decent specs including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and a 5.7-inch QHD display (paired with 2.1-inch secondary display for notifications). We assumed that LG would make the logical step by moving towards a Snapdragon 820 or 821 processor for its successor while sticking with the QHD display.
However, new reports suggest that LG will actually take a step backwards and include a 1080p display rather than QHD. The Snapdragon 820 processor is reportedly a go, as is 4GB of RAM and a 4,000 mAh battery. The smartphone will reportedly be available in 32GB and 64GB capacities, whereas the V10 was only available in a 64GB configuration.
The only thing that we can figure is that LG is perhaps trying to lower the price point of the V20 by going Full HD and providing a 32GB model. The LG V10 debuted with a $700 price tag, which is a lot to ask for a smartphone that doesn’t carry a Samsung or Apple logo on the back.
Whatever the case, we have just over a month before we find out what LG truly has in store for us with the V20.
