LG V30 Set For August 31 Debut At IFA Featuring 6-inch OLED Display

If history is any indication, LG is getting ready announce another handset as part of its V series. This will most likely take place during a press event at this year's IFA in Berlin, Germany. While LG has not come right out and said it will be announcing the V30 at IFA, the hints are anything but subtle—the letter V is splashed across a press rendering of a new smartphone with rounded corners, along with the words "Save the date" printed on top.

That date is August 31, one day before IFA officially kicks off. And on the bottom corner, LG's press rendering says, "Berlin, Germany," which is where IFA is being held. You do not need Nicholas Cage's character from the National Treasure series to crack the code with this one.

Several other renders have popped up on the web ahead of the official unveiling. Based on those renderings (and a handful of rumors and speculation), the V30 will sport an OLED display in the neighborhood of 6 inches, along with a dual-camera setup and a fingerprint scanner on the rear. It will also get USB connectivity, with speaker holes on both sides of the port. A 3.5mm headphone jack sits on top.
Famed leaker Evan Blass (known by his Twitter handle @evleaks) has heard from his sources that the LG V30 will support wireless charging, and as a result will almost assuredly have a glass backside. Beyond that, he has not said much about the specs. If we had to guess, LG will outfit the V30 with a top-shelf system-on-chip (SoC), most likely Qualcomm's speedy Snapdragon 835 processor. We also expect at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

As a point of reference, the V20 from LG debuted a year ago with a 5.7-inch display powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC. It also wielded 4GB of LPDDR4 memory and 64GB of internal storage expandable via microSD, and had a secondary display.
