Here’s The Leaked List Of Original Xbox Backwards Compatible Games Coming To Xbox One

Retro gaming is hotter right now than it has ever been, as evidenced by the wildly popular (and pint-sized) NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition consoles from Nintendo. However, Nintendo is not the only one getting in on the action. Microsoft announced at E3 earlier this year that Xbox One's backwards compatibility would be expanding to include games from the original Xbox. Thanks to a recent Twitter post by a notorious Microsoft leaker, we now know exactly which Xbox games are headed.

Twitter user WalkingCat got his hands on a screen capture of several original Xbox titles that are headed to the Xbox One. The list includes previously announced games such as Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy, but also a whole bunch of others that have not yet been announced.
Here is the full list:

• Crimson Skies
• Dead to Rights
• Fusion Frenzy
• Grabbed by the Ghoulies
• Neowave: The King of Fighters
• Ninja Gaiden Black
• Pirates!
• Prince of Persia
• Psychonauts
• Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Old school gamers should appreciate the varied mix of titles that are coming to the Xbox One. And this is just the first wave—Microsoft will undoubtedly bring more games into the fold as time goes on, just as it has done with bringing Xbox 360 games to the Xbox One. Overall there will be fewer Xbox games than Xbox 360 games, according to Microsoft, but that still leaves room for a lot of titles.


While the above list is not official, WalkingCat is a credible source for these sorts of things. Some of the games on the list already have listings in the Microsoft Store, including Dead to Rights, Neowave, and Red Faction II.

One thing to keep in mind that certain features will not available on the Xbox One. For example, original Xbox games did not have widescreen support, that is not going to change. Microsoft's Phil Spencer also confirmed earlier this year that original Xbox games on the Xbox One will not feature Achievements. While disappointing, we suspect most gamers will be happy just to relive some old school gaming experiences.
