Logic Supply's Rugged AU912 System Gets New Intel CPUs

Think that Intel's newest processors are fit only for consumer machines? Think again! Logic Supply makes systems that few average consumers ever see, but those in the enterprise (and those who go on field missions) will recognize the brand. Now, the company's small form factor AU912 has been updated with new CPUs, the updated Core i5 and Core i7. It's described as a rugged, industrial system designed for demanding environments, and it's built to be resistant to shock and vibration, and is protected against damage due to grease, dust, or dirt exposure. Pairing an AU912 with a solid state drive further increases reliability and allows the system to withstand up to 20 G/11 ms of shock and 3 G of vibration, so you could probably mount this thing within a tank and it'd still work okay.

The whole system uses less than 60 watts of power, and features up to 4 RS-232 COM ports, DisplayPort, Digital I/O, dual Gb LAN and PCI Express x16 and x1 expansion. No pricing details have been divulged yet, but we're guessing a system this rugged won't be cheap.

Rugged System by Logic Supply Combines Intel Core i5/i7 Performance and Mission-Critical Reliability

April 27, 2011: Logic Supply, a leading provider of small form factor system solutions, has introduced the Extended Temperature AU912, a rugged industrial system designed for the most demanding applications and environments. Minimizing the number of moving parts through fanless design, the AU912 is resistant to shock and vibration, and is protected against damage due to grease, dust, or dirt exposure. Pairing an AU912 with a solid state drive further increases reliability and allows the system to withstand up to 20 G/11 ms of shock and 3 G of vibration, resulting in a dependable, fully ruggedized device.

Available with long-life Intel® Celeron™ and Intel® Core™ i5/i7 processors supported by the Intel QM57 chipset, the AU912 offers an ideal balance between durability and versatility while consuming less than 60 watts of power. With an operating temperature range of -20°C~55°C, the AU912 features up to 4 RS-232 COM ports, DisplayPort, Digital I/O, dual Gb LAN and PCI Express x16 and x1 expansion below the board to preserve its compact profile. A front panel slot provides access to a SIM card and CFast slot for embedded operating system installation and hot-swappable storage. Onboard Intel Active Management Technology support allows for service and system recovery for remotely deployed systems without the need for on-site service calls.

Also available from Logic Supply is the Extreme Environment PT Series, with onboard Intel® Atom™ or Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processors from Intel’s embedded roadmap. These systems go the extra mile in terms of industrial reliability, with preinstalled wide-temperature RAM providing an operating temperature range of -40°C~70°C.  PT and AU systems are available with conformal coating to further improve reliability in the face of condensation, dust and chemicals, or temperature extremes. Wide input power supplies with secure terminal block connectors make these systems ideal for a variety of usage environments including automotive applications.
