Logitech Ratchets Up Premium Factor With MX Anywhere 2 Mouse

Not all computer mice take aim at hardcore gamers. Case in point is Logitech's new MX Anywhere 2, a wireless mobile mouse with a premium aesthetic that would look right at home in a lawyer's office or other professional setting. That's fitting, as it's intended for productivity chores as opposed to fragging your friends or going on virtual quests.

In place of a million buttons is a compact design with a rubber surface. It uses what Logitech calls an advanced Darkfield laser sensor that can track on any surface, include glass tables, shiny laminate tops, and other high gloss areas. Digging into the spec sheet, we find that the laser sensor is adjustable from 400 dpi to 1600 dpi in increments of 200 dpi.

You have two options to connect the mouse wirelessly. One is via the included Pico Unifying receiver, and the other is through Bluetooth. You can also pair the MX Anywhere 2 with up to three devices and switch between them with the touch of a switch on the rodent's underbelly. It's a handy feature if you bounce between multiple systems, like a desktop, primary laptop, and 2-in-1 device.

For navigating long documents or webpages, the MX Anywhere 2 boasts a hyper-fast scroll wheel. For more precise control in things like spreadsheets and music playlists, you can press on the wheel and shift to click-to-click mode.

Logitech says the built-in rechargeable battery is good for up to 2 months on a single full charge, based on a 6-hour daily office use. Your mileage will vary depending on your specific use habits.

The MX Anywhere 2 will be available sometime this month for $80 MSRP.
